What is the chaotics theory based on?

Over the last few years there has been a huge change in the way businesses operate. This is because of things like globalization and changes in technology. The result is that new theories are being developed on the best way to run a business. One of those is chaotics theory. Chaotics theory is based in large part on the belief that change is the only constant and businesses need to be prepared for it.

Chaotics theory is based on the fact that globalization has changed the world's economy. In particular it has made it much less stable than it used to be. When things are going well globalization tends to produce a strong economy that grows faster than it otherwise could. The downside however is that a shock to the system almost anywhere in the world can have a global impact. This shock may not necessarily be a bad thing in economic terms, it may be the result of technological change for example. A new technology can completely change the economic landscape since the businesses that relied on the old one may be replaced by new companies.

Since chaotics assumes that businesses will need to operate in an environment that is far less stable than it used to be the theory is mainly about ensuring that they are able to respond to the changes effectively. That means that they need to be able to spot the changes early, ideally before their competitors do. Instability is not necessarily a bad thing if you are better prepared for it than your competitors are. That is why chaotics is based on the idea that you should be constantly looking for both threats and opportunities that instability can provide.

For the most part large companies are more threatened by instability than smaller ones are because they have more invested in doing things the way they are currently done and because they tend to make changes slower than smaller companies. This is something that has to change if businesses are going to survive through periods of turbulence. The company has to be able to implement new procedures and products much faster than it currently does. This requires a constant investment in research and development, an area that most companies have been cutting.

The other thing that has to happen according to chaotics theory is that it will be necessary to flatten the organization. That means that you need to reduce the reporting layers so that there are fewer lines of reporting. The reason for this is that it allows decisions to be made faster, it also allows changes to be implemented more quickly. Equally importantly it helps to make sure that senior management are more aware of threats and opportunities that exist for their business since there is less filtering and sanitizing of the information that they receive from employees.
